Business Brilliance

The business world has evolved significantly over the past decade and will be changing more rapidly over the coming decades. Methods are getting obsolete with each passing second. Successors come in even before the product settles down in the market. PLC is in its shortest possible version. Product come and go, some processes are no longer required, companies are starting and shutting down like nothing, services provided yesterday have become obsolete today. The whole business scenario has become so dynamic that it cannot be controlled or defined over a limited number of parameters. To handle this dynamics the organization must have good business intelligence at their hand.
One of the terms that have been very common in the IT world for the past decade is ‘Business Intelligence’. The term means the process which transforms raw data into meaningful and useful information for business purposes. Business intelligence is basically a tool used by organizations for analyzing business situations and taking better decisions. But the business intelligence I want to talk about is the ability of the managers to take help of the support systems and improve the business scenario through smart decisions. As I said the business scenario is very dynamic today and this model of business intelligence might be useful in today’s scenario but will definitely incompetent in coming future.
What I am suggesting is, we should start moving from business intelligence to BUSINESS BRILLIANCE. In plain language it’s like being good, better and the best. Today we a are better with the existing business intelligence model, but as competition and demand grows we will have to stretch ourselves and strive for brilliance. The concept is similar to customer satisfaction model. What delights customer today will be the basic expectation tomorrow. Similarly, what we are doing today would fall inadequate in tomorrow’s situation. Of course, it is hard to predict the future and most of us we eventually learn by doing mistakes. But, as we know prevention is better than cure.
What do I mean by business brilliance?
Brilliance can be called as exceptional intelligence or mastery. So what we need now is mastering or achieving excellence in the field we work. TCS the biggest and most successful IT Company of India follows the concept of excellence. Stretching the capabilities of our intelligence, developing brilliance centric business models, maintaining the highest possible work standards, following processes which would refine the output to its best possible value, achieving quality higher than the best quality available in the market, building better than the best skills required for the business, taking customer satisfaction level above delight. In short stretching oneself in every possible way to achieve excellence.
It is a hypothetical/ideal situation to achieve something like this. But, if we strive towards brilliance, we might get a little near to achieving it. It may not be the need of the hour but is definitely the need of the future where competition will be more ruthless, being good would be a taboo, customer satisfaction will become harder and harder. When most of the companies will be having business intelligence, this kind of business brilliance will be the differentiating factor.

It’s a jungle out there, better follow Spencer’s ‘Survival of the fittest’ rule.
